Grandpa Elliott

Grandpa Elliott (Elliott Small) was one of New Orleans’ most beloved street musicians, a singer and harmonica player whose soulful performances became a familiar presence in the French Quarter.

He gained international recognition through the Playing for Change project, appearing in its celebrated worldwide performance of “Stand by Me” and bringing the spirit of New Orleans street music to millions of listeners.

With his unmistakable white beard, warm voice, and deeply rooted blues style, Grandpa Elliott embodied the city’s tradition of making extraordinary music right on the street.
